Leadership Spotlight

Diedre Brown – Central Florida Vice President
Meet Diedre, a 6th generation Floridian from Tampa Bay, Florida. We were always outdoors people. I grew up fishing as soon as I could walk…bass fishing, salt water, you name it. My dad was a commercial fisherman for some time so got to enjoy deep sea fishing in the gulf. We raised and butchered our own animals, did some small game type hunting but serious hunting came later in life when I was 30. Duck hunting how I started is by far my favorite thing to hunt.

Diedre learned about ADC on a podcast years ago. She said that it was something on her radar for a long time before she met Stacy at a public meeting about a local lake and they talked about it. I joined that night and the rest is history. I joined the leadership team when I realized I wanted to contribute more to the conversation space than I was at the time.

When asking her what her favorite thing about ADC was she said that the friends she has gained and the vast knowledge of all of the members. If I don’t know the answer to something I know one of our ladies will!
Although her free time is “fleeting” she enjoys  spending time with her hubby (who is not a hunter) and of course her kids. I do enjoy making jewelry. I started tanning my own leathers and making products out of the leather as well as bones, feathers etc. from different animals I harvest. Most of my free time though still involves the outdoors however. Gardening and foraging is another huge passion of mine!

I also asked her what she wants other ladies to know about American Daughters of Conservation, and asked her why they should join. If you haven’t found your way in the outdoor space yet or don’t know where to start your hunting journey or  if there’s something you’ve been wanting to learn just ask us! Come to a meet and greet, attend one of our workshops or camping trips. There’s something within our organization for all the ladies in the outdoors.

Thank you Dierdre for being part of our Leadership Team! Chapter HighlightsMaryland Chapter
The Maryland Chapter has been very active in the last couple of months! In December, they took a boat out of Point Lookout and hunted sea ducks from two man layout boats. The girls had a blast and brought in Common Scoter, Surf Scoter, and Old Squall!

Last week, they were invited to goose hunt Rock Hall. It was absolutely freezing and the geese didn’t cooperate but everyone had a great time and one gal collected her first Snow Goose!

Chapter President Sara Stoneburner has taken two groups to Howell Woods Environmental Learning Center in Four Oaks, NC and they have collectively taken 5 pigs, a sack full of Oyster mushrooms and Lion’s mane, had some good hiking adventures, and eaten a lot of barbecue. I am looking forward to the remaining two trips with ADC!

Florida Chapter
The Florida Chapter proudly hosted its 2nd Annual Whitetail Hunt Seminar on January 2–4 in Telogia, FL! They brought together seven new hunters and seven dedicated mentors for an unforgettable weekend of hands-on learning at deer camp. A huge, heartfelt congratulations to Jessica Gutowski on her first harvest — what an exciting milestone! The Florida Chapter would like to extend a big thank you to the Future of Hunting in Florida for generously allowing us to lease their camp and property for the weekend.

Most importantly, we are incredibly grateful to our amazing mentors who made this experience possible: Brenda, Lisa, Jade, Elizabeth, Leslie, Shannon, and Kari. Your time, knowledge, and passion for mentoring new hunters truly made a difference. We couldn’t have done it without you! Elizabeth Bland, FL Chapter Vice President
Northeast Chapter
The Northeast Chapter ladies attended the Yankee Sportsman’s Classic in Essex Junction, Vermont where they were spreading the good word about ADC and raising money for their Green Mountain Conservation Camp Scholarship Fund. The ladies made some great connections in Vermont including finding a potential spot to host our Northeast Chapter LOST program for 2027! A HUGE shoutout to some of our newest members Tess, Marlena, and Lori-Lee for commuting to join us in Northern Vermont and helping with our efforts here in the Northeast!

On Saturday January 24th Sheryl and member Donna hosted a Hardwater Hangout in Hinsdale, Massachusetts. Although the weather didn’t fully cooperate and it was in the negatives, plus some wind, Tess from CT joined and caught her first ever fish through the ice! It was a slower day but we were able to pull in some fish and get a selfie with the EPO who gave our licenses a check. It was such a great day, despite the cold! Sheryl – NE Chapter President

Northeast The Northeast Chapter is heading into their second year of hosting the Green Mountain Conservation Camp (GMCC) Scholarship Program! Last year we sent 2 girls 12 – 14 to GMCC and we covered the cost, this year we hope to send 4 young ladies! The girls will attend a free week of sleep away camp, which is focused on teaching them various outdoors skills as well as them ending the week with their hunter’s education certification.

Girls ages 12 – 14 eligible to apply as well as girls currently 11 years of age but would turn 12 by the time they attend camp in summer 2026. This is NOT limited to girls in the Northeast region we encourage anyone with interest to apply. There are several weeks and two locations, the parents of scholarship winners can coordinate with GMCC as to when and which location their camper wants to attend and we just cover the cost! Please share this with anyone you know who may have a young lady in their life who might benefit from attending camp at GMCC!
