This is a unique and intimate opportunity to engage in hands-on conservation work focused on the responsible removal of invasive feral hogs — with an emphasis on learning, stewardship, and ecosystem protection.

🐗 Why Feral Hog Removal Matters
Feral hogs destroy native ecosystems, harm water quality, and displace wildlife. This isn’t just a hunt — it’s a conservation mission to protect North Carolina’s wild spaces.

🧠 Required Education & Enrichment Activities

• Complete a brief online training and quiz on NC whitetail deer & feral hogs: biology, behavior & environmental impacts

• Tour Howell Woods Environmental Learning Center — a 2,800-acre educational preserve donated by Rudolf Howell to Johnston County Community College for environmental education

• Explore native wildlife exhibits including reptiles, birds of prey, and hands-on displays (pelts, fossils, teeth, etc.)

• Walk the trails, learn about native flora, visit ponds & read up on native fish

• You may even get to help feed the animals!

🔧 What You’ll Need:

• Sleeping bag, pillow, towels, linens

• Waterproof mid-calf boots

• Rifle (.270, 30-30, 350 Legend, or similar)

• Red flashlight or night optics recommended

• Cooler for meat transport

• NC Hunting License (Big Game tag not required)

• Tip for guides appreciated
  Field dressing & processing assistance available

🌞 Midday Explorations:

• Hike trails, fish ponds (bring your rod), relax by the fire

• Visit the historic Bentonville Battlefield nearby

• Enjoy local eats just 20 minutes away at Redneck BBQ Lab 🍖
